Troubleshooting & FAQ

Can't find what you're looking for? Email support@kidhoot.com and we'll help.

Voice Issues

"The voice is not working"

  1. Check your device volume β€” make sure it's not on silent
  2. Open parent settings β†’ Settings β†’ Voice and check the in-app volume slider
  3. Try switching to System voice β€” if that works, the issue is with your selected provider
  4. Restart the app and try again

For detailed voice setup help, see Voice Quality & TTS Setup.

App Stability

"The app crashed"

We're sorry about that! To help us fix it:

  1. Open parent settings β†’ Settings β†’ Privacy
  2. Enable Crash Reporting
  3. Reproduce the issue if you can

This sends us an anonymous crash report so our team can identify and fix the problem. See Safety & Privacy for what's included.

Progress & Data

"Progress seems lost"

If your child's progress has disappeared:

  1. Open parent settings β†’ Backup & Sync
  2. Tap Restore from backup (if you had an email linked)
  3. Enter your email and follow the magic link

If you never linked an email, unfortunately progress stored only locally cannot be recovered after a device reset. We recommend setting up cloud backup to prevent this in future.

Learning Experience

"The module seems too easy or too hard"

You can reset any module to start fresh:

  1. Go to the Home screen
  2. Long-press the module tile you want to reset
  3. Select Reset module

This clears the module's progress so your child starts from the beginning.

"How long should a Kidhoot session be?"

For children aged 2–6, short bursts work best β€” around 5–10 minutes at a time. Young children's attention spans are short, and frequent short sessions are more effective than one long sitting.

tip

Follow your child's lead. If they want to stop, let them stop. Coming back eager is better than pushing through when tired.

Profiles & Devices

"Can multiple children use the app?"

Kidhoot currently supports a single child profile per device. If you have multiple children, each would need their own device or you would need to manually update the child profile in settings between uses.

Multiple profile support is something we're considering for a future update.

Account & Privacy

"How do I delete my data?"

  • Delete local data: Parent settings β†’ Backup & Sync β†’ Delete local data
  • Delete cloud account & data: Email privacy@kidhoot.com β€” we'll process your request within 30 days
